Valentine's Day Design #2

As the title states, this is the second design I have for Valentine's Day 2015. More of a mix n' match this time around.

Colours used:

"Sheer Pink" by Kleancolor
"Love is in the Air" by Kleancolor
"Don't Touch My Tutu!" by O.P.I.

Valentine's Design #1

It's been quite a while, over a year since I last posted.
Here's a Valentine's themed design for you guys, it's fairly simple.

I apologize for my absense, I was going through a lot of stuff after I lost my job back in 2013, and I hadn't even been painting my nails, until just recently, but now I'm trying to get back into updating this blog at least once a week.

So for this design I used needle-dragging for the mostly pink nails, only one of which turned out to look like hearts (apparently I'm very rusty), and a simple pink watermarble for my ring and thumb nails as an accent.

Colours used:

"Punk Pink 165" by Sally Hansen
"Cotton Candy" by Julie G.
"Blanc" by Essie (the first and only Essie polish I own)

Peaches n' Cream

I reblogged a photo from Miss Pop Nails on tumblr the other day with this design on it. And, since my original idea failed miserably, I attempted a slightly different version of hers.

May/05/2013
The base colour for these is "9 to 5" from Julie G's Jesse's Girl line. It's a really pale pastel peach shade. I did the lines in white acrylic paint. The best nail is the pinky I think, next time I will probably use striping tape to make the pattern more uniform.

Pink Galaxies

These looked much better in person, the "Fairy Dust" made them really come to life. For these I was inspired by Black Milk Clothing's  Pink Galaxy Leggings (you can see them here).

The colours I used for these nails are: "Black Creme" and "French White Creme" by Wet n' Wild; "Ahoy!", and "Evening Seduction" by China Glaze; and "Fuchsia Fever" Bye Revlon. I topped them off with some "Fairy Dust" (China Glaze) and "Disco Ball" (Covergirl).

House Stark (Photo Heavy)

This week its House Stark in continuation of my Game of Thrones month.

Whole Hand
Let me start by saying, I had a ton of trouble getting the Stark dire-wolf  right, they either looked to fluffy or like they were grinning as opposed to snarling.

Main Four.
I chose to do some geometric patterns on the ring and index fingers because mimicking the wolf's fur would have made it too busy, and I like the geometric/asymmetrical french going on. The snow on the pinky is because of all the snow in Winterfell and obviously the wolf is the Stark sigil.

Thumb close up.
This one is the best looking wolf, most likely due to the large size of my thumbnail.

The colours I used are: China Glaze "First Mate", with "Wet Cement" by Sally Hansen. I used my trusted Speedball ink and dip nib pen for the black outlines.

If you would like a set of these, as either false nails or nail wraps, send me an email.

Have a Happy Monday!

Newspapers

A bit late, but yesterday was Family Day (a public holiday) so I took the day off from posting.

Feb/17/2013
The colours used are "White French Creme" and "Black Creme" by Wet n' Wild. On top of that I did a newsprint transfer, which did not turn out very well, and added some silver striping tape to finish it off. Overall not a bad design, but next time I'll use fresher newspapers to get a better transfer.

Soft Flowers

This isn't an official Valentine's Day design but it is really soft, girly and romantic looking, so it could work well for a Valentine's manicure.

Jan/27/2013
The base used is 3 coats of "Glints and Glam" by Sation, with Konad "White" stamped in plates M26 and BM221 (ring finger). Really simple, really quick and very delicate but still pretty.

More official Valentine's Day nail art will be starting up next week, but in the meant time check out last year's ideas under the Valentines tag in the right side bar.

Have a Happy Monday!

Deer

Back with more nail art!

Jan/14/2013
Deer skulls, and flowers. Pretty simple but it put me back into my groove. The base for these is "Blackboard" by OCC (which I picked up from Sephora). The skulls, and flowers were all hand painted by me using acrylic paints. I'm quite liking this manicure even if it is a touch morbid.

Let it Snow!

Still no snow here in Ontario, at least not for those of us in the GTA. Kind of depressing, but then I realize, I can make my own.

Dec/15/2012
These were quick, as I used Konad stamps, the snowflake ones from plate M59? with Konad's "White" and "Silver Sweep" by Sally Hansen. They were done on a base of "Royal" by Revlon, and on a couple of fingers you see the multi-sized glitter "Pirouette My Whistle" by OPI. Quick, easy and filled my desire for snow. As long as I don't have to drive in the stuff.

Also, here's a photo of our little baby budgie pals, Pickle(blue) and Salsa (green):

Pickle(blue) and Salsa(green)
As I flip through the photos of these birdies, I notice that Pickle always has the same look on his face. In, EVERY single photo.

Bouquet of Roses

Another simple one for today. Don't worry I have some awesome Halloween designs coming up soon.

Sept/16/2012
The base colour is 3 coats of OPI's "Don't Touch My Tutu" with some simple gold roses painted on top. Really simple, really fresh and also pretty easy to do, it's just a bunch of curved lines.

Have a Happy Monday!

Acrylics

Nov/01/2010
Tried my hand at acrylic nails, this is not the first time I've done acrylics, this is just one of the better attempts. Painted some black and white swishes on them to hide the flaws ;)

Robert Best Inspired - Take 2

First and foremost, I appologize for not having this ready yesterday, there was just too much for me to do.
As I said previously, I have another manicure inspired by one of Robert Best's artwork.

This time I was inspired by this photo:

Artwork (C) Robert Best.

On to the manicure for today:

Whole hand.

Close up on Thumb.

Close up of main fingers.
This was a little more fun, and very different from what I usually do, as I'm sure you've all noticed by now. My stuff is usually pretty simple. Although this isn't something I typically wear, this was a lot of fun to do, and I hope to wear this baby until she chips like a mofo. I'm in love with the little Barbie-girl face and her cute little pout. This is probably beside the point, but all of these are hand-painted aside from the pinky finger, and my index finger; the index is just dried black polish cut into strips.

Now on to the colours I used:
"Solar Power" China Glaze (Pinky finger)
"Naked" China Glaze (Middle finger)
"Marine Scene" Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear (Thumb)
"Lacey Lilac" Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear (Thumb)
"Black Creme" Wet n' Wild (Index finger)
"French White Creme" Wet n' Wild (Index Finger)

Robert Best Inspired

I've got a sort of special one for you all today. I recently saw some of Robert Best's amazing Barbie
fashion drawings. And became smitten with his amazing style and his ability to render such beautiful images using watercolour. So naturally, I had to do something nail related.

These nails were inspired by this photo:
Artwork (C) Robert Best
This was one of my more favourite images by him, and it went on to inspire the birth of this nail design:

Upsidedown thumb.

I wanted it to look soft and watercolour-y like his works, but I feel like I missed it by a long shot. I'm also displeased with the shakey lines, but seeing as this is the FIRST portrait I've done on my nails, I shall still wear it proudly. The base colour is "Don't Touch My Tutu" from O.P.I.'s NYC Ballet Collection, with one coat of "Pirouette My Whistle" from the same collection.

As always, the actual design was done using acrylic craft paint. Hopefully the next portrait I do will turn out better. But I hope you still enjoyed!

Marbled Candy

Sept/19/2010 to Sept/25/2010

A water marble using "White On" by Sally Hansen, "Pink Voltage(Neon)" and "Purple Panic(Neon)" by China Glaze. It didn't marble very well, but the end result reminded me of those jawbreaker candies :P

Friday, 13 April 2012

Purple Crush

June/27/2010 to July/03/2010
"Purple Crush" by Orly with some hand painted white and black swishes.

Friday, 6 April 2012

Watermelon Flowers

June/20/2010 to June/26/2010
"Watermelon Rind" by China Glaze with some Konad Stamping over top in "White" Konad Special Polish. Watermelon Rind is a greenish-blue green with a nice shimmer to it.

Snowy Day Bling

So yesterday I woke up to a light dusting on snow on Betty (my van). And was not impressed as I was heading out to class. So this is the mani inspired by my dislike of snow.

Whole hand.

Thumb Close-up.
So I first put down a white gradient using the sponging technique. I used "French White Creme" by Wet n' Wild for the base colour. On top of that I did a basic glitter gradient using Sally Hansen's "Disco Ball" from the eXtreme Wear line, its like an iridescent glitter. On top of that I randomly attached half pearls and rhinestones which were purchased from Michael's Arts and Crafts store.
Overall I like them, I love blinged out paws, but they are a pain to work with since they are so bulky, I have trouble getting my hands between books to make shelf space.
