Diva Nails

Did this lovely set on a wonderful lady last week. She wanted sparkling red tips for her cruise. We used her own polishes, I didn't make a note of the name of each, but a true red polish was used as a base for the chevron tip, then they were coated with a chunky glitter in matching red. We topped it off with a nice black stripe to make the red really pop.

Hopefully her manicure is still sparkling bright.

Planchette

Originally I had planned a blood moon mani for this last week of October. Although, every attempt it fought me, so next year perhaps.

So instead I bring you a blingy planchette (you know the little pointing device for Ouija boards).

I hope you all have a safe, happy and positively frightening Halloween!

See you next week with some Christmas themes.

Colours used:

"Howl You Doin'" China Glaze
"Black Out" Sally Hansen

Watercolour and Roses

I really wanted a floral, specifically cute little roses this week.

June/16/2013 to June/22/2013
The watercolour nails look like my bedspread hahah. I did those by using acetone to water down the polishes and that's how they made that blended look. I did roses on my thumb and ring finger, although it would've looked nicer if I went blue and purple flowers as opposed to pink and yellow.

On a side note, I cut into my middle finger with a butcher's knife last week while trying to chop up some stuff, so you won't be seeing that finger in my posts for a while until it has healed up.

Colours used:

"Don't Touch My Tutu" O.P.I
"Posh Plum" Sally Hansen
"Va Va Voom" Orly
"Blue Sparrow(Neon)" China Glaze
"Turned up Turquoise (Neon)" China Glaze

And some silver holo glitter bought at a local craft store.

Cotton Candy

This manicure reminds me a lot of the cotton candy clouds you get at fairs and such.

May/26/2013 to May/31/2013
So a did a simple ombre using "Tickled Pink" by Wet n' Wild and "Pastel Blue" from Kleancolor. I topped it off with Kleancolor's Aurora because it's just too pretty not to use on these pastel manicures.

Bridal Nails (Warning Feet Photos)

I was recently commissioned to do a mani/pedi for a Desi bride. Here are her nails.

Pedicure
The lengha she was wearing was a beautiful ivory with gold, and maroon gems/embroidery, so we matched the colours in her nails to it. On the toes you see "Smolder" by Orly and a holographic loose gold glitter on top.

Simple Glam

I had another design in mind for this week, but it kept failing, so I swapped it out for this one.

Indoors
I also have a wedding coming up soon to go to, if my job plans hold out I won't be able to go. So this particular design is super simple, the main three fingers are "I Herd That" by China Glaze, with "Hot Blooded" by L.A. Colors on the ring and thumb nails as accents. I added a triangle half moon in "I Herd That" to them to make it a little less boring.

Outdoors
Since it's finally getting warm and beautiful outside, I was able to grab a nice shot of these in the sunshine.
These nails would look really great during the holidays too, now that I think about it.

Pink Galaxies

These looked much better in person, the "Fairy Dust" made them really come to life. For these I was inspired by Black Milk Clothing's  Pink Galaxy Leggings (you can see them here).

The colours I used for these nails are: "Black Creme" and "French White Creme" by Wet n' Wild; "Ahoy!", and "Evening Seduction" by China Glaze; and "Fuchsia Fever" Bye Revlon. I topped them off with some "Fairy Dust" (China Glaze) and "Disco Ball" (Covergirl).

Sation Glints & Glam: Swatch

Another swatch for you all on this lovely, albeit freezing Friday.

Today's is "Glints & Glam" by Miss ProNail's Sation:

January/17/2013
This shade features holographic silver glitter in a large hexagon shape and micro glitter suspended in a blush pink jelly base. This was done with 3 coats, I found that to get good even glitter coverage you had to shake the bottle quite a bit. Other than that, this colour is beautiful if you want some subtle glam to your nails for daily wear. It held up pretty well to my work shift this morning, zero wear against the tips. The formula for this one is nice, goes on smooth and dries pretty quickly, even though I did use a few thickish coats.

Have a Happy Friday!

Black and Gold Disco Ball

Hey everyone! These are my nails for New Years!

Whole Hand
This inspiration for these nails came from my lovely friend C, she tossed out the idea of "Black and gold disco balls" and when my other idea failed, these succeeded.

So for these I began with a base of Wet n' Wild "Black Creme", added some loose large holographic gold glitter hexagons on a few nails to re-create that disco ball feel, and finally a coat of "Synergy" by L.A. Girl on the pinky. The words and numbers are all hand done with gold paint.
Close-up on Thumb
I wrote "Happy New Year" on the thumb nail since it's the largest surface.

Those are my nails for New Years, I hope you all have a wonderful time on New Year's Eve no matter what you choose to do. I shall see you all next year!

Flashback Friday: Blue Snowflakes

Nov/29/2010
This is another acrylic set I did for myself from waaayy back when. I made my own blue glitter acrylic and then stamped over them some white snowflakes which you can barely see. Ahh well, lesson learned.

Glitzy Sailor

Aahhh, I forgot to post these last week when they were on, so please forgive me.

Nov/21/2012 to Nov/24/2012
Base colour is "Hey Sailor!" by China Glaze, with "I Herd That" (CG) on the ring finger. Topped it off with some "Synergy" by L.A. Girl Colors. Simple, sparkly and fast. Last week was a shitty week.

Unicorn Barf

Somewhat low-key today. It was a toss up between this and some red-gold filigree. But C was excited when I mentioned Unicorn Barf, so that seemed like the better choice.

So I tried that PVA-glue basecoat idea for the glitter accent nail. We'll see how easy it is to remove after a few days. And I'm sorry for the blurred pinky, this was the best photo out of the bunch.

"Pastel Teal" Kleancolor
"Aurora" Kleancolor
"Pastel Yellow" Kleancolor
"Tickled Pink" Wet n' Wild
"Syngergy" L.A. Girl Glitters
"French White Creme" Wet n' Wild

Enjoy! And have a Happy Monday!

Happy Jack-o-lanterns

My first idea failed, so here are some simple Jack-o-lanterns instead!

Just something really simple. The base colour is "Hi Pumpkin" by OPI. The black sheer glitter you see ombred on the other nails is a glitter polish I made. I'm calling it "Juvenile Batfish" after the glitter mixture I purchased from an eBay seller.

Flashback Friday: Simple French

June/10/2011
A basic french manicure. Used "Sheer Peach" and "White" from Kleancolor. The glitter on my index finger was from a sad attempt at making my own glitter polish. You can see it a little in the Rimmel London bottle in hand.

3D Roses

At school on July/14/2012 after performing a back fill for a set of acrylic false nails on Ayesha (my lovely cousin), she decides to mix up some glitter acrylic. Since she and I have time and not much to keep us busy that day in class, she asks me to show her how I do my 3D acrylic flowers. This is the result:

July/14/2012
So this is what I did for her, its not the best I've done, but it's adorable! I did this on her ring finger, and the glitter you see was her special acrylic mix of pink and blue.

UV gel Experiments

Done on the same day our UV clear overlays were done, we experimented.
July/15/2012

Left: Blue and black glitter; Right: orange and purple marble.
I did both of these nails, still playing around with the UV coloured gels and adding glitter. I like the marbled effect I got on the one on the right.

Left and Right: Ayesha's; Middle: Mine
The far right and far left nails my cousin Ayesha did, she made up some beautiful turquoise UV gel using clear gel and turquoise eye shadow. The right one she mixed in some blue glitter, and the left nail she patted the blue glitter on top, both creating a different effect. I like the one she did on the right.
The middle nail with the rhinestones I did, there was some orange and turquoise left over so I did a gradient and stuck on some rhinestones before curing it. It reminds me of something you'd find in Bollywood.

Fruit Salad
I did both of these, but Ayesha coated/encased the right nail with clear gel. All is did was mix magenta and orange eye shadows with clear UV gel and stuck on some cute little fruit fimos for added fun.

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you have any questions, comments or concerns leave them down below and I'll get back to you!

Flashback Friday: Wooden Shoe Like To Know? OPI

Today, I bring you the lovely paws of my darling cousin Shaheena. She's studying to be a doctor :) And is not afraid of the sparkly! Enjoy!

Close up.

Both Hands

Close up on the Pinky.
So for this, I was mostly practising a Spa-style manicure that school taught me. It was mostly about getting my time right as well as keeping all the steps. All in all it took me a touch over 45 min (not good, I should be at 45min or under). On to the polish! The base colour is OPI's "Wooden Show Like To Know?"; its a beautiful creamy brown with coppery-gold shimmer. I put one layer of "Sparkling" by Revlon over top to give her extra bling, as she never does her nails. I like this combination quite a bit, very subtle, and elegant.

UV Gels

I'm so excited! I finally received my UV lamp which means I can finally play with my UV gels!
So this here is my second attempt at using them.
July/10/2012
Alright! So aside from the fact that its off kilter, or rather on a slant, I think I did a pretty decent job for my second attempt. I need to work on packing on those glitters to make it more opaque, but I managed to be patient enough to let it self-level and only need to file it a tiny bit.

I Herd That

Kind of early, but I've heard rumours that the Internet will be down tomorrow for some dumb reason. I bought some new polishes after having my dermals removed on Friday. Here's one of the polishes I picked up.

July/07/2012
The base colour is "I Herd That" from China Glaze's 'On Safari' collection. It's a nice sandy glitter polish with hints of copper, it dries matte so if you want it glossy use a fairly thick top coat, and multiple layers. I dressed it up with some black hand painted flowers.
