Spring Floral

This was originally done the first week of September 2013.

I know it's not even close to spring, but I figured I should post this one now, since we could all do with something bright, cheerful and flowery. I don't know about you but I'm sick of all the snow.

Flowers are handpainted, they were pretty easy, just very time consuming.

Colours:

"Pastel Yellow" by Kleancolor
"Matte Top Coat" by Me (add cornstarch to clear top coat)

 As of late, my life has been getting increasingly hectic, much to my dismay. It seems as though every single weekend this summer has been consumed by stupid parties (those who know me personally know I'm no social butterfly, and crowds/people in general stress me out to no end). So as a result I have not had much time to think of designs, or even carry them out.

Luckily though, these turned out fast and simple enough to do. The roses are handpainted with red acrylic paint. The base colour I used was "Smoke and Ashes" by China Glaze, the shimmer in it does not show up because it's been mattified via China Glaze "Matte Magic".

Minty Floral

Sorry about my disappearance last Monday. It was just one of those really bad nail art days where nothing

worked at all.

This design though, has been sitting in my sketchbook since February just waiting to be brought to

fruition. I hope you enjoy it.

The base used for these was Julie G's "Gelato in Venice" a really nice mint green. I sponged some darker green before putting in the roses.

The roses are also that one-stroke type of painting technique. It actually turned out well this time.

The thumb rose is my favourite.

Watercolour and Roses

I really wanted a floral, specifically cute little roses this week.

June/16/2013 to June/22/2013

The watercolour nails look like my bedspread hahah. I did those by using acetone to water down the polishes and that's how they made that blended look. I did roses on my thumb and ring finger, although it would've looked nicer if I went blue and purple flowers as opposed to pink and yellow.

On a side note, I cut into my middle finger with a butcher's knife last week while trying to chop up some stuff, so you won't be seeing that finger in my posts for a while until it has healed up.

I think it was last year, but I bought a set of 20 different water decal full nail strips, and here's one of them:

This weekend was really busy so I needed to do something really fast, and these water decals are good for those days. It took me about 20 minutes to get these all done, they are a little tricky to work with though.

Flowery Britches

So the base I used for these was "Mossy Britches" by Nina Ultra Pro, its a really nice olive shimmery green, with some gold to it. I topped it off with some golden-yellow flowers.

Spring Flowers

It's officially spring!!! I'm so happy! Finally this snow shall melt and lead to beautiful flowers and double digits! To ring in the spring, here's a floral manicure!

I apologize for the photo quality, I was in a rush and didn't manage to get a good photo of these with my proper camera before running out the door.

The base colour I used was "Don't Touch My Tutu" by OPI. With some purple and blue flowers done in acrylic paint. Very simple, and fast, although I plan to revisit this in the future, next time I will make the colours brighter looking.

Soft Flowers

This isn't an official Valentine's Day design but it is really soft, girly and romantic looking, so it could work well for a Valentine's manicure.

The base used is 3 coats of "Glints and Glam" by Sation, with Konad "White" stamped in plates M26 and BM221 (ring finger). Really simple, really quick and very delicate but still pretty.

Deer skulls, and flowers. Pretty simple but it put me back into my groove. The base for these is "Blackboard" by OCC (which I picked up from Sephora). The skulls, and flowers were all hand painted by me using acrylic paints. I'm quite liking this manicure even if it is a touch morbid.

Fringe

I've been meaning to do this mani since February?(I can't remember when we had our Fringe Peacock stuff on display). 

So at work (Chapters/Indigo), we get in a lot of "Lifestyle" product, one of the companies that we get gorgeous stuff from is Fringe, and apparently this particular collection was designed exclusively for us. Part of the Fringe Peacock collection was a beautifully printed tote bag. As gorgeous as the peacock print was on the front, I was more into the floral on the back. Here's a photo of it I took with my phone:

Isn't is such a gorgeous pattern? So, naturally I wanted this on my nails, since I'm a floral pattern junkie. And here is what happened after many months of staring at this bag.

Whole Hand.

 I tried a combination of things with this manicure, the original idea was to just over load on the floral, but it evolved; I tried that "outlined" nails technique, solid glitter nails, accent nails and some simple filigree.

Main Four.

 For the base colour I used "First Mate" by China Glaze, Essie's "A Cut Above" on my pinky, and "Pink Satin" by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear for the outlining and filigree.

And a close up on my thumb. I tried to use different parts of the design on my nails so that it wouldn't be to repetitive.

Water Decals

These water decals I purchased off of eBay.ca. Application was okay, just cut off the pre-sized nail, soak it in water for 2 min., peel the design off, apply to the nail, let it dry file the extra off then top with top coat. I like using these every so often when I feel like being lazy, they give very pretty results with minimal effort and minimal mess. Plus, they come in many designs (just check them all out on ebay).

These are INSPIRED by the amazing Robin Moses go see her awesomeness here: Robin Moses.

The base colour I used for these was "Near Dark" by China Glaze, I added a gradient using some silvery eye shadow and "The Best Glue Ever". On top of that I hand painted some grey-ish flowers, and added some spot of gold foil (on one) and white gold foil(on the other) for some sparkle. This was fun, and what I wanted to attempt on my own paws a while ago but didn't quite have to moxy to do so.

China Plates

More stamping, used the BM-221 plate because it's just so damn pretty. But I am a sucker for florals, as for the title, this combination just reminds me of those gorgeous fine china plates I see in my Nanni Amma's dish cupboard.
