Fire an Blood: House Targaryen

This is the last manicure in this month's Game of Thrones theme.

House Targaryen:

Let me begin by saying, this is my favourite manicure of all! And it was so much faster to do than I thought it would be! Also Daenarys is one of my favourite characters from Game of Thrones aside from Tyrion Lannister.

Main Four
So this manicure is a mix and match type deal. The dragons are the main thing I wanted to emphasize though, so they got the middle finger, then to continue the dragon theme, fire was needed. I tried using a needle drag techinque for the flames but it wasn't turning out how I wanted it so I switched and just painted them on, they look infinitely better this way.

Thumb Close up.
Keeping with the dragon theme, I chose to do scales on my thumb because I felt it would be far too dark if I did another black nail. I like the end result of the thumbs. I started with a base of "Cayenne Pepper" by L.A. Colors, and made a darker red to add some depth to each scale. This was super easy and really fast.

Dragons Close up.
The dragons were also surprisingly easy to do. I began with an oval in red for the heads and some curvy fat lines for their necks, then went in with some black and a fine brush to add eyes, mouths and the frill part on the dragons' spines. I used a dotting tool to dab some "Cayenne Pepper" onto the dragons to make them look like scales. And of course, there's also some fire in the background there :).

I know I've already said this before, but this is my favourite manicure of them all, so much so that I may revisit it later on this year, after all, you can never go wrong with fire breathing dragons! Even though this is the last Game of Thrones inspired mani that I'm doing, I know there are many other houses that can be done, and have been done by others.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

Black and Gold Disco Ball

Hey everyone! These are my nails for New Years!

Whole Hand
This inspiration for these nails came from my lovely friend C, she tossed out the idea of "Black and gold disco balls" and when my other idea failed, these succeeded.

So for these I began with a base of Wet n' Wild "Black Creme", added some loose large holographic gold glitter hexagons on a few nails to re-create that disco ball feel, and finally a coat of "Synergy" by L.A. Girl on the pinky. The words and numbers are all hand done with gold paint.
Close-up on Thumb
I wrote "Happy New Year" on the thumb nail since it's the largest surface.

Those are my nails for New Years, I hope you all have a wonderful time on New Year's Eve no matter what you choose to do. I shall see you all next year!

Black Heart Tights

Sheer Black Heart Tights, I saw a design similar to this on Tumblr a while back and wanted to try it for myself as a warm up to Halloween designs. You will get the first Halloween design next Monday, I promise.

Sept/30/2012
The sheer black polish is a frankenpolish I made by thinning out an old black nail polish. The black tips and hearts are done in "Black Creme" by Wet n' Wild.

I don't like how this one turned out, I'm rusty with my french tips, they look too sloppy for my liking, oh well that should teach me not to rush them in the future.

Have a Happy Monday!

The Dark Knight

My older brother and I were practically raised on Sesame Street and Batman. So it's no wonder that I'm a fan of the recent Dark Knight movies. Since the final in the trilogy is out on Friday, I felt the need to don some serious Batman Pride.

July/16/2012 Whole Hand
My design is based off of the Mimobot USB keys for Batman. Which is why it's not quite so Dark Knight-esque.

Index to Pinky: Batman, Catwoman, Joker, Robin.
I used "Silver Sweep" by Sally Hansen to create the metal outline for Catwoman's goggles. The base colour nail polishes I used were "Touch of Mauve" by Revlon (pinky), "French White Creme" and "Black Creme" by Wet n' Wild for the rest of my fingers.

Thumb close up.
I used just regular acrylic paints to do all these aside from the polishes stated above. I hope you enjoyed this manicure, and if you go see the final Dark Knight movie, tell me what you thought of it!
Have a good week!
