It's finally October! It's time for Halloween manicures!

This year we're starting off with something hopefully everyone recognizes; Candy Corn!

I originally thought this was going to be quick and easy but it turned into something much more painstaking. I'm quite out of practise, so it took a lot longer and my lines aren't nearly as nice as they could be.
When I first picked up this colour it looked like the perfect orange creme, although once I got it out of the bottle onto my nails I learned how much of a neon it really was. It is a really bright shade, I was not prepared for how bright it is. I found it also went on a bit streaky (as neons tend to), even after three coats, that was a little frustrating. But, it is a very pretty shade of orange.

Also my nail on my middle finger broke really close to the nail bed, which is why it's much shorter than the rest. It also broke in a really strange way, the under layer (can I call it that?) of the free edge is what broke but it's attached to the skin firmly so removing it would be unwise. The top layer is fine though. I guess I just have to let it grow out.
Anyway, I have a few manicures planned for this month, stay tuned for more Halloween-y goodness.

Happy Jack-o-lanterns

My first idea failed, so here are some simple Jack-o-lanterns instead!

Just something really simple. The base colour is "Hi Pumpkin" by OPI. The black sheer glitter you see ombred on the other nails is a glitter polish I made. I'm calling it "Juvenile Batfish" after the glitter mixture I purchased from an eBay seller.

Flashback Friday: Firey - Marbling without Water

A "water marble" done without using water. Just put some globs of nail polish on the nail then swirl with a toothpick/dotting tool/ or some other fine tip tool. I don't remember what the colours were named or by, but any red, yellow and orange would suffice.

Gay Pride Toronto 2012 and Canada Day

Fairly unusual of me to post a new mani on Friday, but this one is fairly important to me; since seeing that July 1st is Canada Day and this week is Pride Week in Toronto. As a full-blooded Canadian born and bred girl and being damn proud of my country, I naturally had to show my support.

I'm a complete supporter of Gay and LGBTQ rights movement. I think it's only fair to allow people to love who they love freely and openly, no matter what. So I rainbowed up my nails accordingly to the LGBTQ flag. I had to add in the little Canada Flag since Canada Day is also super important.

Peachy Keen Swatch

This is one of the items I bought using my "Birthday $10 off Sally Coupon".

This is "Peachy Keen" from China Glaze. In the bottle it's paler, so it dries darker (which is fairly obvious despite my brain fart in buying it). I was hoping it would be more like the bottle colour which looks like a pale pastel orange. It is, it's just not as pale as I'd like, but no matter, I can add a drop of white nail polish to make it paler. 

It is a pretty shade nonetheless. I shall have to come up with something to do with it one day.

Glittery Hearts

I love this ombre design. The reason is probably not why you think. I'll fill you in on how I did it down below :)

So, I know that last mani was also an ombre, but the technique I used this time was a tad different. I didn't try sponging it on, no no, I used acrylic paint on these paws. Yes, that's right, there is no actual nail polish here except for the Base Coat, and the Top Coat. All the rest is regular craft store acrylic paint, blended to create a beautiful gradient effect. So the paints I used were a basic green mixed with white to get the mint, and red, yellow and white for the pastel orange. The little glitter paillets came out of my bottle of "Synergy" from L.A. Girl.

Birthday Paws

This past April 7th was my birthday. As of now I'm 22 -_-'

Instead of doing something fancy, I broke out the brilliant, blinding colours of "Sun Worshipper"(orange) and "Purple Panic(Neon)" by China Glaze and just did a simple ombre using a make up sponge. Enjoy!
