Nail Venus - Summer Floral

So, I saw this image in a Japanese nail magazine called Nail Venus, and I wanted to try it out.

Whole Hand

I think I did a fairly decent job replicating it aside from the sponging on the ring finger. It's a cute design, and I love it especially for the end of summer. The base colours I used were "Blazed" by Wet n' Wild (index and pinky fingers) and "Don't Touch My Tutu" by O.P.I(middle and ring finger). On my ring finger the colours I used were: "Pink Flamingo" by Nina Ultra Pro; "Nectar" Sally Hansen; "Blazed" by Wet n' Wild; "White" by Kleancolor; and "Solar Power" by China Glaze.
The little micro beads were a pain to get smoothly around the pearls. I need to find a better way of doing this.

Flashback Friday: Pink Flowers and Black Tips

Jan/31/2010
Simple black french, with some hot pink flowers. Used very transparent paint for those flowers. Anyway, the base colour is "Sheer Pink" by Revlon, the tips are "Black Creme" by Wet n' Wild.

Carly's Cozu Melted In the Sun

August/17/2012
Carly's paws again! Woot! She graced me with her lovely paws so I could give her an acrylic set, to help me prep for my Nail Technology exam the next day. Which was awesome of her. She went with a subtle, yet gorgeous shade called "Cozu Melted in the Sun" by O.P.I. And we added some little fimo flowers hand-sliced from the cane and some little rhinestones for some added bling.

When Carly is not getting her nails done you can find her reading and blogging here: A Little Bit of Everything.

Miss Emo Shun All

I liked the colour combination I did for Sam a few weeks back, and wanted to test it out again with a slightly different spin.

August/19/2012
Here's a photo before my niece MZM decided she was going to use her little bebe nails to dent them. So I'm still obviously into this whole "accent nail" business at the moment. On the ring finger we have Sation's "Loudest Colour" a blinding highlight fluorescent green/yellow. It's much greener in person. On the rest of my fingers is "Miss Emo Shun All" a beautiful deep violet also by Sation. I originally attempted water-marbling with these colours for the accent nail but it didn't work out. So I opted for some needle-dragging instead. I topped it off with some large bronze studs and called it a day.

Also on a totally off-topic note, I aced my final exams for Nail Technology. :)

Flashback Friday: Spotted French Leopard

June/16/2011
Experimenting with water decals my Mom found for me from when she lived in Nigeria. They're like a green leopard print with gold rimmed spots. The base colour is "Sheer Pink" by Revlon. The water decals are apparently from Sally Hansen.

Pink Flamingo

A day later, but yesterday I was the equivalent of a zombie.

August/11/2012
Here is a swatch for you, I was too tired to do any nail art, and the ones I did try did not want to turn out, so I just gave up. We have here 2 coats of Orly's "Va Va Voom" a nice neon pink, with 1 coat of Nina Ultra Pro's "Pink Flamingo" to dull it down a touch.

I did manage some nail art, here is a 3D flower I sculpted in black acrylic powder on my thumb nail. I used Color Club's Nail Art Liner in "Bronze" for the gold-ish outlines. I hope you enjoy, and I promise more fun nail art after my exams are done.

Flashback Friday: Simple French

June/10/2011
A basic french manicure. Used "Sheer Peach" and "White" from Kleancolor. The glitter on my index finger was from a sad attempt at making my own glitter polish. You can see it a little in the Rimmel London bottle in hand.

Loudest Colour

To prep for the practical portion of my final exams, I borrowed Sam's paws to practise my hand at acrylic application. Since she was such an awesome sport, she got some free nail art.

August/07/2012

Sam is fond of bright colours, and so she naturally went for the neons in my collection. The base colour here is "Loudest Colour" with stripes and splatters done in "Miss Emo Shun All" both are by Sation, a brand by Miss Professional Nail. "Loudest Colour" is a traffic-stopping bright neon yellow-green, with "Miss Emo Shun All" being a beautiful deep yet sill bright purple.

Doctor Who Weeping Angels

This was the result of me annoying my friend Moose. I had no idea what to do this week, so I asked him after discussing the budgsicles and their odd behaviours.
He came up with the idea for weeping angels nail art, so here it is, for all you my fellow Whovians!

Whole Hand: Thumb and Pinky Galaxy Nails; Index and Ring finger Weeping Angels; Middle finger Doctor Who logo.
This design is a mix and mash of different things; I did some galaxy nails for my pink and thumb nails, and the weeping Angels on the ring and index fingers, and I managed to smear the Doctor Who logo :S

Here's a close up on the main four, this is the best I could get, I'm still learning to use my new camera.

So here's a list of polishes I used and which fingers they are on:
"Wet Cement" and "Slick Slate" by Sally Hansen: sponged for a textured stone effect (Index and Ring fingers).
"First Mate" by China Glaze: perfect Tardis blue on the middle finger.
"Silver Sweep" by Sally Hansen: Doctor Who logo.
"Smoke and Ashes" China Glaze, "Fairy Dust" China Glaze and "Disco Fever" from Covergirl for the Holo Chunky glitter: on the thumb and pinky galaxy nails.
I hope you enjoyed this one.

Flashback Friday: Firey - Marbling without Water

April/19/2012
A "water marble" done without using water. Just put some globs of nail polish on the nail then swirl with a toothpick/dotting tool/ or some other fine tip tool. I don't remember what the colours were named or by, but any red, yellow and orange would suffice.

Also, I'm really sorry about the grainy-ness of this photo. I took this using my phone camera :S

3D Roses

At school on July/14/2012 after performing a back fill for a set of acrylic false nails on Ayesha (my lovely cousin), she decides to mix up some glitter acrylic. Since she and I have time and not much to keep us busy that day in class, she asks me to show her how I do my 3D acrylic flowers. This is the result:

July/14/2012
So this is what I did for her, its not the best I've done, but it's adorable! I did this on her ring finger, and the glitter you see was her special acrylic mix of pink and blue.
