Minty Floral

Sorry about my disappearance last Monday. It was just one of those really bad nail art days where nothing

worked at all.

This design though, has been sitting in my sketchbook since February just waiting to be brought to

fruition. I hope you enjoy it.

The base used for these was Julie G's "Gelato in Venice" a really nice mint green. I sponged some darker green before putting in the roses.

The roses are also that one-stroke type of painting technique. It actually turned out well this time.

The thumb rose is my favourite.

China Glaze "Sex on the Beach"; Swatch

I'm still wracking my brain for a design, so in the meantime here's a swatch:

2 coats of China Glaze's "Sex on the Beach" a nice neutral shade, it's base is a warm dusty rose colour with shimmer which changes the colours depending on the lighting. It's sheer as you can see my free edge on a couple of nails. Overall a nice shade, with reasonable wear and tear, although I noticed a chip on my right hand's index finger after the first day, oh well.

First Week of Fall

Yesterday we rang in the first day of Fall!! And you know what that means, HALLOWEEN!

So to kick off autumn, I have a mildy themed Halloween mani to show you, plus OPI's "So So Skullicious" mini polish set.

OPI So So Skullicious

 I only bought this mini collection because of it's packaging. Shameful yes, considering these colours are fairly easy to come by, except maybe the orange. But, honestly, that packaging is adorable. This set contains 4 mini nail polish colours, and a set of small sugar skull water nail art decals. They were cute, but I haven't come up with a way to use them yet.

 This little mini set came with the above 4 colours: "Hi Pumpkin!", "A-Rose From the Dead", "Mourning Glory" and "Candlelight". "Hi Pumpkin!" is a perfect pumpkin coloured creme orange, it's very opaque on which is nice. "A-Rose from the Dead" is a basic pink creme, opaque after 2 coats, it's nice but I'm sure I already have this shade somewhere in my collection. "Mourning Glory" is a creme black, very common. And "Candlelight" is a nice sheer yellow, it took 3 coats to become opaque, it feels warmer toned than other yellows I've used.

This mani was done using all the colours from the mini set. I did some colour sponging on my middle and pinky fingers and it created this nice fall mesh look. On top of that I added some outlined roses in a dark burgundy and white. The index finger has a cute little skull peeking out from one corner surrounded by more rose outlines. It's cute and very mix n match, which is kind of why I like it. I like how the skull is my way of hinting that Halloween is on it's way. I'm so excited.

Flashback Friday: You Callin Me a Lyre

3 thickish coats of O.P.I's "You Callin' Me a Lyre" from their NYC Ballet Collection. On top of that is one coat of Revlon's "Sparkling". OPI's "YCML" is a nice sheer pastel pink, it would be good for french manicures and days when I'm too lazy to wear anything fun, but still want polish on them.

English Rose Semi-Nail Fail

I used two coats of O.P.I's "Don't Touch my Tutu" under the "English Rose" nail foil I bought ages ago.

This wouldn't be as much of a nail fail if it weren't patchy, and aside from those blue ink marks on my middle finger.... Yeah, apparently it transferred from the note I wrote onto my palm. I'll leave these for a couple of days, but they won't last the week.

Sparkling White Roses

So this is almost like a Nail Fail, but not exactly. The base glitter gradient was created using Revlon's "Sparkling" which is a beautiful cold pale dusty rose colour. Although, it didn't want to fade very nicely, as in past glitter fades I can usually cover the nail tips solidly with 2-3 coats. This one took 5 coats and you can still see my tips peeking through.

Now, the white rose flower was sculpted using white acrylic, I tried at first on a fake nail for practice, then once I did nice ones on there I tried the ring finger. Big mistake. Which is why that finger is blurred, but the middle finger turned out quite nicely.

Hue Left a Message?

Some stamping and an attempt a taping. I found the scotch tape (used for Expresso) gave a much cleaner line than the masking tape (for the Black). Used Bundle Monster's BM-221 plate.
