House Baratheon

If you're one of my peeps on Facebook, you may have already heard that I'm dedicating this months manicures to Game of Thrones, in honour of Season 3 (airing March 31st, 2013).

The first house up is Baratheon!

Whole Hand.
The house sigil for Baratheon is the deer, so antlers were a definite must, as you can see the french on my index and ring fingers are outlined by black antlers, while I have the main deer in the center, even though it's just a close up of the head.

Main Four.
The deer was done using, believe it or not, regular India ink by Speedball and a nib pen. You can see little crackle marks which appeared after I top-coated, but I love the way it did that. I found that it was a lot easier getting the fine details in using this method than using a brush and paint/polish.

Thumb detail.
I originally wanted to do another deer head on the thumb, but I came across an alternate symbol when I searched Baratheon on Google, it was an image of symmetrical antlers on a yellow-gold background; although my antlers are not symmetrical, I think I came as close as I'm going to.

So now on to the polishes, the base colour I used for my thumb and middle finger is "Fast Track" by China Glaze, from their Hunger Games collection. On the other nails is "Expresso 58" by Kleancolor, a nice rich metallic chocolate brown.

If you would like a set of these, be it false nails or nail decals, feel free to contact me at my email: ayeshaskhan27@yahoo.ca. Please put a subject in, so that I don't accidentally mistake it for spam.

Have an awesome week!

Susan's Nails - Manicure

Ran over to Susan's house again, this time to do a manicure!

July/02/2012
This time the base colour is "Purple Panic(Neon)" by China Glaze, with one coat of "Electrify" by China Glaze over top.

Dry Marble

Simple dry marbling today, its technically just needle dragging, because I wanted to water marble but it wasn't working, so this was better. Colours used are "Fast Track" and "Smoke and Ashes" by China Glaze from the Capitol Collection.

Loki

I asked my lovely friend on Facebook again for some inspiration. They voted for Loki paws.

Whole Hand

Main Four.

Thumb Close-up
So the base colour for these was "Holly Day" by China Glaze, the tips were done in "Smoke and Ashes" by CG, and the gold stamping and linework were done in "Bronze" by Color Club from the Art Club Nail Art Lacquer. I really quite like this one, Loki's helmet was painted in using the "Bronze" by Color Club. The stamp used was from plate: BM203.

The Girl on Fire

I have another Hunger Games themed mani for you lovelies today.
This one I'm sure you've seen plenty of already, but I felt I should try my own slightly
altered take on it. Keep reading for more details.

Whole hand.

Close up of the thumb nail.

So for the base I used "Foie Gras" by China Glaze (The Hunger Games Collection). I painted on flames, and did the Mockingjay pin on my ring and thumb finger nails. I topped the flames off with a custom mix of glitter to make it look like ashes.

Smoking Agro

Today's mani, using the colour "Agro" from the Hunger Games Collection by China Glaze. It got the most votes from my pals on Facebox.

So after getting the tallied up votes from yesterday, Agro came out on top, but only by one vote. After trying a couple different things (and none of them working) I came up with this magical idea. So the base is Agro, while I sponged on a black gradient using "Black Creme" from Wet N' Wild. The smoke, which looks more like cobwebs, was created by doing a watermarble. The water marble was created using "White Creme" and "Clear Top Coat" by Wet N' Wild.

Enjoy, I'll be posting more mani's using my Hunger Games polishes in anticipation of the movie.

Hunger Games by China Glaze

So I've finished reading The Hunger Games series, and I loved it, aside from the last book being depressing (was it just me who felt that?).
But, aside from that, I saw the actual collection ages ago, and fell in love, then after seeing various swatches from the other Nail Polish Blogs I decided which colours I had to make a mad dash for.
So here they are:

Left to Right: Agro, Foie Gras, Dress Me Up and Fast Track

So after ripping open the packaging of my newest little joys, I thought maybe I had made a mistake in my choice of "Foie Gras" and "Fast Track". In the bottles they didn't look so nice. Even under better light.

Fast Track

I don't know, when they were in the bottles, they looked a tad off to me, but after swatching them I realized why I bought them to begin with. I'm just in love with Fast Track and Agro. I might have to go out and get a second Fast Track, I have a feeling this will be one of my go to shades like "Tempt Carnation".

So I hope you enjoyed my photos and random little comments. I pre-ordered mine from Sally's about a month ago, but as my lovely friend Carly told me (a few days back) they're in store now for a much higher price than $3.50/bottle when I ordered them. Thank you :)
